Visakhapatnam & Araku Valley

I was searching about toy train journey to Shimla in google and suddenly one of the most scenic train journeys I've done till date flashed in my mind. It was from Visakhapatnam to Araku by a small tourist cum passenger train which crosses 46 tunnels and lot of bridges while meandering through the lush green valley! Our Visakhapatnam and Araku Valley plan was actually a side trip from Hyderabad trip, so, our duration of stay there and getting absorbed in the ambiance of the port city or the Andhra Ooty (that is what they call Araku valley out of sheer love) was very little. From Hyderabad our train had reached Visakhapatnam at late night. So we found it more practical to spend the night in first class retiring room to catch the next morning train for Araku valley. Next morning while we were in the train we got hold of an APTDC tour manager who was taking his group of tourists to Araku and joined his team to make it a easy day-trip. We returned Visakhapatnam at night after exploring the Araku valley and some other local sight seeings en route like Tribal Museum, Padmapuram Garden, Borra Caves and a waterfall of which Borra cave was the most likeable for me. Oh yea, I missed to mention that APTDC had arranged for a delicious lunch too in the middle of the journey, followed by a tribal dance which was quite entertaining indeed. In the dark hour of Vizag we opted for a hotel and concluded the day. Next day we hired a cab for local sight seeings at Vizag. Some spots which I remember (the reason of my forgetfulness is simply not maintaining a notepad throughout the trip!) are- Ramakrishna Beach, Kailasagiri (including a nice rope way service), Matsyadarshini aquarium, Submarine Museum and a temple before RK beach. The hot and humid weather turned out to be too intolerable for us and so we ended our city tour by early afternoon having a sumptuous lunch of sea fishes, without covering the city extensively. At night we had return journey back home. It was a 2009 story, so thought to share some trip photos here in my travel blog.

Hope you enjoyed these trip photos. I'll try to blog/upload my Hyderabad trip photos soon. Have good time till then!
